Participation of riders with disabilities (FREE) în 2024

L'Étape Romania by Tour de France hosts the campaign "The joy of cycling, TOGETHER!" The campaign is dedicated to the social integration of cyclists with disabilities who want to experience the thrill of the legendary race. The **Para-Cycling Race** will be integrated on all three routes of the event, 14 km (City Adventure), 42 km (The Ride) and 85 km (The Race).

Registrations

Registration for people with disabilities is FREE and can be done on the event's official page, with the mention that the first step of registration involves sending a message to events@mpg.com.ro in order to generate a special registration code.

Who can participate?

Any person with physical impairments or visual impairments may join the event as a para-cycling athlete, subject to appropriate equipment. Please specify your personal situation or the person you represent at the time of registration to the e-mail address mentioned above.

What contest categories are available?

People with disabilities will take part in the same competitive races, along with other participants. However, we may organize a separate prize dedicated to riders with disabilities, which will be announced during the week of the race, depending on the number of registered participants.

What equipment is required?

Many cyclists with disabilities use a typical bicycle when they compete. However, depending on each person's impairment, the bike can be adapted to meet personal needs.

Classic cotton t-shirts are fine until they get wet from rain or sweat, so we recommend wearing t-shirts that can help wick away moisture, generally made from synthetic materials (sports t-shirts). Also, to improve your comfort we recommend wearing padded cycling shorts. If the weather is inclement, a light rain jacket can keep you warm and dry.

The specialized protective helmet is mandatory in cycling events. The many holes in the helmet are ventilation holes to keep your head cool. The headphones come in different sizes to fit all head shapes and sizes and are adjustable.

The entire equipment is available for purchase in most stores with a sports profile, including Decathlon.ro

From first contact, to lifestyle and performance

With a little support, anyone with a disability can become a para-cyclist. Even though reaching a high level of fitness requires a lot of effort, the first goal is to practice sports consistently whenever possible.

If you are determined to discover cycling, we can provide you with important resources and support. Please leave us a message and we will put you in touch with specialists in the field.
